DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN ICELAND AND VISIT TO REYKJAVÍK
Landing in Keflavík and transfer to Reykjavík by taxi. Depending on the arrival time, possibility of visiting some of the most representative places. Among these, the enchanting Tjörnin lake and the Harpa, an iconic glass building on the sea. A visit to the imposing Hallgrímskirkja cannot be missed. Furthermore, Reykjavík is a perfect city for walking through the streets of the center and popping into one of the historic cafés to warm up with a kaffi or a kókó. Overnight stay in a centrally located hotel.

DAY 2 – AROUND SNÆFELLSJÖKULL – Guided tour
In the morning, meeting with the guide. Following the Ring Road northwards, after the underwater tunnel that cuts through Hvalfjörður, beyond Borgarnes, you enter the Snæfellsnes peninsula. The suggestive basalt formations of Gerðuberg and the splendid town of Stykkishólmur are the first highlights. We then continue to Grundarfjörður, a pretty village behind which stands the iconic Kirkjufell. You then reach the area of the majestic Snæfellsjökull, the glacier that leads to the center of the earth. At one of the westernmost points of the peninsula, you will find the golden beach of Skarðsvík, the nearby dramatic lighthouse of Öndverðarnes, the impressive sea stacks of Lóndrangar and the fascinating endless beach of Djúpalónssandur. Overnight in Hellnar.

DAY 3 – TOWARDS THE NORTH – Guided tour
We start the day with a walk along the short and unmissable coastal path (2.5km with minimal altitude difference) that connects the villages Hellnar and Arnarstapi. Before heading north we visit the suggestive black church, Búðakirkja, which overlooks Búðavík beach. You then reach the Borgarnes area and then Bifröst, a town built on lava, behind which you can climb the impressive volcanic crater of Grábrók. Once you arrive towards Hvammstangi, you can visit the beautiful Kolugljúfur canyon and finally, near Varmahlíð, Víðimýrarkirkja, a lovely little black church with a peat roof. Overnight stay in the Varmahlíð area.

DAY 4 – THE SURROUNDINGS OF MÝVATN, OR MARS – Guided tour
After a transfer of an hour and a half, the first stop of the day is Goðafoss, the elegant semicircular waterfall created by a glacial river. The rest of the day is entirely dedicated to the surroundings of Lake Mývatn, one of the most varied environments in Iceland. We start from the volcanic area of Krafla and then move to the Martian geothermal field of Hverir, the terrestrial portion most similar to the red planet. Other attractions include the Dimmuborgir lava field and the Skútustaðagígar pseudo-craters (geological formations found only here and on Mars). At the end of the day, you can take a bath in the ethereal Jarðböðin, less commercial sister of the Blue Lagoon, or in GeoSea, spas located in Húsavík, on top of a cliff with unparalleled views of the ocean. Overnight stay in the Húsavík area.

DAY 5 – THE POWER OF WATER IN ÁSBYRGI AND DETTIFOSS – Guided tour
The morning can be dedicated to whale watching in Húsavík, with which you hope to meet with the giants of the sea. After leaving Húsavík, you travel along the perimeter of the Tjörnes peninsula where you can try to spot some puffins. We then reach the grandiose canyon of Ásbyrgi, which is said to have been formed by Odin’s horse and is now the capital of the mysterious hidden people. Ásbyrgi also serves as a gateway to the grandiose Jökulsárgljúfur canyon, formed by the glacial river Jökulsá á Fjöllum which gives life to the majestic Dettifoss, a true force of nature. Returning to the Ring Road, we continue southwards, with an increasingly desolate and lunar landscape, until we reach what is one of the entrances to the wild plateaus. Overnight stay in the Dettifoss area.

DAY 6 – THE AMAZING EASTERN FJORDS – Guided tour
In the morning we visit the Stuðlagil canyon, a natural wonder that has only become known for a few years. TO
depending on the weather conditions, you can reach the canyon from the eastern bank along a simple, mostly flat path or, alternatively, by vehicle up to the western side. Afterwards, we arrive in the easternmost part of Iceland, characterized by the presence of deep fjords and Lake Lagarfljót, where the Icelandic Loch Ness monster lives. The hub for all areas of the east is the town of Egilsstaðir. Depending on the time of year, an option for the rest of the day is to follow the circuit that goes around the lake, which allows you to try a short but intense hike up to the beautiful Hengifoss waterfall. Alternatively, by the beginning of August, you can go to the remote village of Borgarfjörður Eystri, where you can spot puffins and where there are mountains that seem painted, as well as the residence of the queen of the elves. Overnight stay in the East Fjords area.

DAY 7 – THE SOUTH-EAST AND THE ICE LAGOONS – Guided tour
After leaving the previous accommodation area, continue the road until you reach Djúpivogur. From here, the road winds along very steep mountain slopes, offering impressive views. Between Djúpivogur and Höfn, you reach the surprising Vestrahorn, a mountain of almost 1,000 meters which falls sheer into the sea and which offers a truly spectacular landscape, as well as a beautiful black beach. We then arrive at the region of the majestic Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe and the third largest ice cap in the world. The Jökulsárlón is the best-known lagoon where hundreds of icebergs of infinite shapes float, shining in the sun or hiding in the fog, and the diamond beach where the icebergs meet the sea and sparkle on the black beach. Another lagoon, smaller and less visited, offers the possibility of joining an engaging zodiac tour to get closer to the icebergs and the ice tongue. Overnight stay in the Jökulsárlón area.

DAY 8 – THE CLASSIC SOUTH COAST – Guided Tour
More ice opens this day, and in particular in the Skaftafell National Park area we visit Svínafellsjökull, the most spectacular ice tongue. Continuing west, near Kirkjubærklaustur is the beautiful Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon and, just west of Vík, you can visit the gloomy Reynisfjara beach, with its impressive basalt formations. After a visit to the Dyrhólaey promontory, another excellent place for spotting puffins and for magnificent ocean views, we get back on the road, still heading west, up to two of the most photogenic waterfalls in Iceland: the perfect Skógafoss, located in the tiny village of Skógar, and the romantic Seljalandsfoss, around whose jet it is possible to walk. Overnight stay in Hella area.

DAY 9 – THE GOLDEN CIRCLE – Guided Tour
The three wonders of the Golden Circle instead constitute the fulcrum of the remaining part of the program: Gullfoss, the queen of Iceland’s waterfalls with its double drop, the geothermal area of Geysir, which gave its name to this natural phenomenon and the Park Þingvellir National, site of the first parliament, where you can admire one of the most impressive tectonic fractures. In the late afternoon you reach Reykjavík, where you can visit other interesting corners and enjoy the lively atmosphere of the evening. Overnight stay in the city, in a centrally located hotel.

DAY 10 – END OF THE PROGRAM
Depending on the time of the departure flight from Iceland there is more or less time to discover, in a way
independent, what Reykjavík offers. Corresponding to the flight, departure to the airport
Keflavík International Airport by taxi, with the option of a stop at the world-famous Blue Lagoon to relax in the spa before leaving. Return flight.

NB: depending on the travel date chosen, the itinerary may undergo variations based on the accommodation booked for the specific tour. For example, the ride might go counterclockwise instead of clockwise. This, however, does not affect the tour as a whole and all visit areas indicated in this program are included for all tours.
